Ian Sams leaving White House, expected to join Harris campaign

Ian Sams, a White House spokesman for oversight and investigations, is leaving the White House and is expected to join Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign as a top spokesperson, according to people familiar with the move.

In 2020, Sams was a vocal defender of Harris, regularly appearing on television during her presidential campaign. After Biden was elected, he worked at the Department of Health and Human Services on the covid response. Since Harris became the Democratic nominee, she has brought on a slate of senior advisers onto the campaign while still leaving the leadership structure in place. Top alums of president Barack Obama’s campaigns, including David Plouffe, Stephanie Cutter, Mitch Stewart and David Binder, all joined in senior roles.

This is a developing news story and will be updated.
